Registration of INDIVIDUALS as ATHLETES

REGISTRATION FORM: To register as an Athlete (either directly to Malta Rowing Association, or through an entity which is an Associate Member, please fill in this online form.

Note that this form does not register you for the Championship or some other event.

3.5       Registered Athletes (Indoor rowing category only)

 

3.5.1    Registered athletes are individuals who:

(a) Are registered with an entity that is an Associate member and are registering with the Malta Rowing Association to take part in activities that entail indoor rowing only;

(b) Are individual athletes who are registered directly with Malta Rowing Association to take part in activities that entail indoor rowing only.

3.5.2 Registered athletes are not considered are ‘rowers’ but still enjoy the privileges rowers are entitled to when are participating in indoor rowing events.

3.5.3 Registered athletes cannot take part in on-water rowing events unless they are resisted as ‘rowers’ with an entity that is a FULL MEMBER or a MEMBER WITH OBSERVER STATUS within the Association

3.5.4 If a REGISTERED ATHLETE registers with a Club as a rower, his registration as a REGISTERED ATHLETE is automatically nullified.

3.5.5 REGISTERED ATHLETES have no right to attend any Council meeting unless they are specifically invited to do so by the Council.

3.5.6 An athlete who wishes to register with the Malta Rowing Association as a REGISTERED ATHLETE through an entity can do so by applying through the entity with which s/he will be affiliated with and pay the corresponding fee.

3.5.7 When an athlete chooses to register with the Association as an individual member (i.e. would be considered as a NON-AFFILIATED REGISTERED ATHLETE), s/he would have to send the relevant application form to the Association together with the corresponding fees. This application would be considered in the first council meeting and for this to be accepted, it would require half the votes of the members present.

3.5.8 The period of registration of an athlete that registers under this category would be that of one year, renewed automatically given that the relevant fee would be paid in advance. In the case that until the 30th of June the fee would still be unpaid, the registration would be nullified and the athlete would have to register again.

3.5.9 A registered athlete can declare, if s/he so wishes, that s/he would not like to remain considered as an ‘active athlete’ by filling in the relative form. This would not have any effect on her/his registration period, and the individual would still be considered as a registered athlete but would have no right to compete.

3.5.10 A registered athlete that had declared that s/he would have have declared herself/himself as ‘inactive’ may re-activate her/his status though a written declaration by filling the appropriate form and pay the corresponding fee as stipulated in Annex II.

3.5.11  ALL individuals registered as a REGISTERED ATHLETE, including those who are under the age of 18 and register with their parents/guardian’s consent, would need to agree that:

(a) The information in their registration form is correct and he/she is obliging him/herself to inform the Association whenever there is a change in this information.

(b) The athlete is bound to honour the rules set by the Malta Rowing Association, including but not limited to the Code of Disciple, as well as any rules set by FISA and/or other competent entities including SportMalta. Malta Rowing Association and other entities reserve the right to change their rules over the years whenever and however they deem fit.

(c) The athlete will agree to participated in Doping Tests if s/he is asked to do so and if s/he knows about the anti-doping regulations as explained in the 2015 Legal Notice no. 17 (Sports Act, CH 455 of the Laws of Malta). The athlete is also agreeing that information regarding his/her registration will be held and passed to other entities as is needed, in accordance with the Data Protection Act (Ch 440 of the Laws of Malta).

(d) The athlete declares that s/he does not suffer from health problems, disabilities or conditions which may endanger him/her or anyone in the vicinity during training and/or a competition.

(e) The athlete exonerates the Malta Rowing Association as well as any members, employees, volunteers and executive of the Malta Rowing Association for material, physical, moral or other forms of damage which may be suffered by him/her, his/her family members and/or his/her dependants. S/he agrees to compensate for any damages that the Malta Rowing Association as well as any members, employees, volunteers and executive of the Malta Rowing Association and/or their dependants with them in the case that these damages would have been caused by the athlete’s negligence or actions.
