Malta Rowing Federation

Malta Rowing Federation (VO/2163) is the national governing body for the sport of rowing in the Republic of Malta. A voluntary, non-profit organisation, Malta Rowing is dedicated to promoting and developing rowing in Malta and Gozo in an open, inclusive, and educational environment. Guided by Olympic and Paralympic values, we champion excellence, respect, equality, and friendship, while ensuring fair competition and integrity through honesty, transparency, and respect for the rules and others. Through rowing, we aim to foster participation, wellbeing, and respect for both people and the environment, welcoming athletes of all abilities.

Malta Rowing is proud to be one of the most inclusive sporting federations in Malta, with its national activities and championships including events for individuals of all ages and abilities, with a focus on promoting the sport of rowing to athletes with disability.

The Federation carries out its mission through its member clubs, all of which are voluntary organisations duly registered with the Office of the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations. Membership of Malta Rowing Federation may be granted to those bona fide rowing clubs based in Malta with a track record of promoting, practicing and participating in on-water Coastal and/or Classic rowing (Olympic and/or Paralympic style) rowing as defined in the World Rowing Rule Book. At present, the following Clubs (the founding members of Malta Rowing) are members of Malta Rowing:

• University of Malta Rowing Club (VO/1358)
• Siġġiewi Rowing Club (VO/2036)

In accordance with the Statute of Malta Rowing Federation, a Club wishing to apply for membership but is still in the starting phases of promoting, practicing and participating in on-water Coastal and/or Classic rowing (Olympic and/or Paralympic style) as defined in the World Rowing Rule Book, shall be considered as a prospective member and given advise on how to prepare itself to be able to apply for full membership. Such clubs may apply for, and normally be granted, a temporary Associate Membership. The Federation is a separate and distinct entity from “Regatta Malta” which governs the Maltese Traditional National Regattas.

Malta Rowing Federation is enrolled with the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations (OCVO, Registration Number: VO/2163), registered with the Authority for Integrity in Maltese Sport (AIMS, Registration No. NA/013) affiliated with World Rowing, the Maltese Olympic Committee, the Malta Paralympic Committee and SportMalta.
