Extract from Statute as approved on 30-June-2025, Article 16
Malta Rowing is committed to promoting the highest standards of integrity, fairness, and clean sport across all levels of participation and competition. It will abide with and cooperate fully with the Authority for Integrity in Maltese Sport (AIMS), the national entity entrusted through national legislation to ensure the upholding and advancing of the principles of integrity, fairness, honesty, and respect in sports.
All athletes, coaches, officials, and club representatives are expected to uphold the principles of fair play, respect, and non-discrimination, and to refrain from any behaviour that may bring the sport into disrepute.
Malta Rowing shall actively promote anti-doping education and awareness in collaboration with national and international anti-doping authorities.
All registered rowers are subject to anti-doping regulations as outlined by the National Anti-Doping Organisation (NADO). The names of athletes and para athletes on the national team will be communicated to NADO with a request that these would be monitored as elite athletes.
Any individual found to have violated anti-doping regulations shall be subject to disciplinary proceedings by the National Anti-Doping Organisation (NADO) with full respect to the rights of the accused and applicable national procedures. It is clarified that in competitions of Malta Rowing, should a single member of a crew be found guilty of an antidoping infringement, the sanction relating to forfeiting of medals and/or points for that specific competition will be applicable to all members of the crew.
Malta Rowing shall cooperate fully with anti-doping investigations and ensure that testing procedures may be conducted during training and competition, in line with national and international standards.
The General Assembly shall elect an Integrity Officer or equivalent to oversee compliance with integrity, fair play, and anti-doping policies, and to serve as a point of contact for reports or concerns.
Match-fixing, bribery, illegal betting, and any attempt to unduly influence the outcome of a competition or related activity are strictly prohibited and shall constitute a serious breach of this Statute.
All affiliated individuals must refrain from offering, soliciting, or accepting bribes or other improper advantages in relation to their sporting activities.
Malta Rowing shall promote a safe and inclusive sporting environment for all participants. Any form of harassment, abuse, or exploitation shall be dealt promptly, severly and transparently.
Clubs are required to appoint a Safeguarding Officer to (a) Monitor and respond to safeguarding concerns; (b) Ensure training and awareness on child protection and vulnerable persons; (c) Coordinate with relevant national safeguarding bodies.
Any individual who witnesses or is aware of violations under this article is required to report them directly to the competent national authorities and filing a police report if applicable. Copies of such reports are to be sent Malta Rowing. Whistleblowers shall be protected from retaliation.
Any individual or Club found guilty of attempting to influence the result of a competition through dishonest or corrupt means shall be subject to immediate suspension and referred to the Board of Discipline.
